Testa Produce’s Chicago-area distribution center has been certified LEED Platinum, making it the first refrigerated food distribution facility in the country to earn the standard. The new 91,300-square-foot distribution center generates a 60-percent savings in energy consumption with features such as a 750kW wind turbine, a partially vegetated roof, solar panels that heat all of the building’s hot water, and a water reclamation and treatment system, the company said.
